METALWORK
The bodyshell, doors, bonnet and boot lid were media blasted to bare metal and then primed to protect them while in the workshop.
Extensive corrosion was found in the floors, sills, A pillars, lower wings and doors. Where original metal was beyond repair new sections were fabricated, remaining faithful to factory correct profiles and other details such as the position of spot welds.
While the car was apart the rear axle location points were strengthened with plates to overcome a known weakness in this area that leads to cracking and flexing.
In all, over 600 hours of fabrication time went into the bodyshell.
